Grooming Agreement

  • Current Vaccinations/Veterinarian Information:
By signing this contract, owners verify their pets are current on Rabies, Distemper and Parvo-Virus. Proof of Vaccination shall be provided to Wash and Groom the Dog (hereinafter WAG THE DOG) upon request as well as current Veterinarian information. Special circumstances will be taken into consideration.

  • General Grooming Information:
Extra care will be taken when performing grooming procedures, however, the Owner (“You”) must understand possible reactions such as stress, skin irritation, possible nicks to the skin or a toenail quick may occur. You understand that problems occasionally arise after a grooming visit such as bleeding of nicks, clipper irritation and mental or physical stress. Grooming can also expose a hidden medical problem or aggravate a current one.

  • Moles/Skin Lesions/Tumours/Other Irregularities:
Because these skin irregularities may protrude from the skin, they are vulnerable to nicks or cuts during the grooming process. Long/sharp dew claws are sharp and dangerous to staff and other animals and risk getting caught causing injury. You understand that Senior Pets (age 7+) may have a greater chance of injury. You agree not to hold WAG THE DOG responsible for any injuries that might result from the grooming process.

  • Emergencies:
In case of an emergency, we would like your permission to obtain immediate veterinarian treatment, at your expense, should it become necessary. If your dog’s veterinarian is not readily accessible, WAG THE DOG is authorized to use a veterinarian of its choice. WAG THE DOG will not be responsible for any conditions or problems discovered during grooming. Should veterinary care be necessary as a result of any services rendered by WAG THE DOG, WAG THE DOG must be notified within 48 hours of such care. Reimbursement for such care will be at the sole discretion of WAG THE DOG.

  • Matting:
Dogs with severely matted coats require extra attention. WAG THE DOG will not cause serious or undue stress to pets by de-matting. If a dog is severely tangled and/or matted, it poses a greater risk of injury, stress and trauma. Heavy matting can trap moisture and urine near the pet’s skin, allowing mould, fungus and bacteria to grow and/or reveal skin irritations that existed prior to the grooming process. While all precautions are taken, removing a heavily matted coat can cause nicks, cuts and/or abrasions. After effects of mat removal can include itchiness, redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and - in extreme cases - failure of hair to regrow. In some cases, pets may also exhibit brief behavioural changes.

  • Extra charges will be applied for matting and any brushing beyond 30 minutes, with an additional fee of $30.00 and $1.00 per extra minute thereafter. These fees reflect the extra time and care needed to ensure your dog’s safety, comfort, and a proper groom.

  • Double Coats:
WAG THE DOG does not recommend shaving down double-coated dogs unless you deem it absolutely necessary to their health and wellbeing. Some complications that can occur include: The coat not growing back in the same texture and/or colour prior to shaving; bald patches; hyper pigmentation of the skin; darkening of the skin where the coat has not grown back; loss of guard coat (the top layer of the coat); coarse re-growth of hair in different directions; exposure to the elements (sun/heat damage or stroke and cold weather); exposure to bug bites; reduced protection to scratching etc. Knowing that any and all of the above conditions can occur, you authorize your groomer to shave down your pet and agree not to hold WAG THE DOG responsible for any complications described above or otherwise which might result.

  • Aggression:
You MUST inform WAG THE DOG if your pet bites, has bitten or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet and protects both the pet and the groomer. WAG THE DOG reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such pet(s) at any time before, during or after the grooming process should your pet exhibit aggressive behaviour.

  • Liability for Injury Due to Dog Behavior:
The safety of both your pet and our grooming staff is of utmost importance. While we handle all pets with care, respect, and professionalism, unforeseen incidents may occur. In the event that your dog bites or otherwise causes injury to our groomer or bather during the grooming process, the owner (client) agrees to be held financially responsible for all resulting medical costs incurred by the injured party. Additionally, the owner may be liable for any loss of income resulting from the groomer's inability to work due to the injury. We encourage owners to inform us of any known behavioral issues or history of aggression prior to the grooming session to ensure we can take appropriate precautions.

  • Fleas/Ticks/Lice:
Parasites are a health hazard to your pet as well as to humans. If fleas, ticks or lice are found on your pet during the grooming process, your pet will be treated with a flea and tick shampoo to kill the parasites and you may be charged an additional fee. Any ticks found will be removed for an additional charge and we strongly encourage you to have your pet tested for Lyme Disease. If lice are found, we will advise you to take your pet to the veterinarian and grooming services will cease immediately as a safeguard against their spread. A minimum $50.00 flea/tick/lice charge will apply.

  • Cancellations:
We require notification of any cancellation before the end of business day 36 hours prior to your appointment. Last-minute cancellations may result in cost of service booked being charged and prepayment being required for any future visit. We understand that emergency situations arise and will work with you on a case-by-case (but not on a patterned) basis. Please be respectful of our time as we are a by-appointment business and another client could have taken your appointment had we known. If you are more than 15 minutes late, you risk losing your appointment without notice due to groomer time constraints. A $60.00 cancellation fee may be added at the discretion of WAG THE DOG.

  • Hold Harmless Agreement:
By signing this contract your (or your Agent) agree to hold WAG THE DOG, it’s owners, operators, employees, officers and directors harmless from any damage, loss, or claim arising from any condition of the undersigned pet, either known or unknown to WAG THE DOG. It is also further understood and agreed the terms of this agreement can change at any time, without notice, and will overwrite any and all prior signed contracts or releases. It is further understood this clause applies to any and all pets groomed.

  • Photo Permission for Website and Social Media Use:
In accepting to have your Dog(s) groomed by WAG THE DOG, you agree to allow WAG THE DOG to copyright, publish and use photos of your dog(s) in print and electronic formats such as publications, videos, and social media (including the WAG website, Facebook and Instagram). You understand those photos may be published in any of these media without restriction. You understand that you will not receive payment or other compensation for use of any photos.

  • Time Policy:
We reserve the right to take the necessary time to groom each pet on a realistic schedule and will advise an expected completion time with the owner individually at the time of the groom. Timing varies depending on size, condition and behaviour.

  • Payment Terms and Conditions:
We accept payment by cash or bank transfer. Payment is due at time of service unless prior arrangement is made. Credit Card is accepted if paying by invoice through HNRY. By accepting these terms and conditions you agree to our payment policy to settle all invoices on the day of service or within 24 hours of receipt of our invoice. Any overdue or unpaid balances will be subject to a late payment fee of $10 after the due date has passed. In addition, unpaid balances over $250 will be subject to 5% interest per month, charged daily until the balance is paid. There may be occasions where additional grooming is required beyond what was initially quoted and couldn’t reasonably be identified or foreseen at the time of booking. We will endeavour to advise you immediately once we are aware of this, but any additional costs shall be your responsibility, and WAG THE DOG shall not be liable for these.
